Riddm- A New Kind of Dubstep

If you’re a fan of dark, gritty bass music, I’m sure you’re more than familiar with this seemingly new subgenre known as “Riddim”. Riddim, in short, is an offshoot of dubstep that consists of repetitive synth work, triplet percussion, and an excessive use of flangers, choruses, and delays. Though minimalistic, riddim tracks often pack a punch that always seems to leave the crowd asking for more.

To me, what’s great about this subgenre is the experimental nature behind it. Defined almost solely by elaborate synth work, riddim has allowed for the emergence of a whole new level of sound. New artists are emerging each day, incorporating new sounds/synth work in their productions that seem to only be pushing the genre further.

Are IndiRasta and Invisible Children Too Similar?

KSHMR & Tigerlily’s “Invisible Children” and Jango’s “IndiRasta” are just a little too close for fan comfort.

Indian American producer Niles Hollowell-Dhar aka KSHMR known for his 2015 release of Heaven with Shaun Frank has paired up with DJ Tigerlily. The result of the collab is a new track titled, Invisible Children. The song has underlying message about children suffering, the title referring to kids living in the slums, where poverty is such a common thing that society no longer pays attention to the issue.

Invisible Children was released on Spinnin’ Records September 5th and has been receiving a lot of attention. By September 6th it reached #6 on the Beatport Electro House top 100 chart and in just six days has over 200,000 listens and 13,000 likes on Soundcloud.

After Prolonged Fight, the Iconic Fabric Nightclub Shuts Down

Despite all the efforts to stand still, London’s legendary Fabric nightclub has lost the license and is set to close its doors for good by decision of local authorities. Home for many UK ravers is now under serious threat of never seeing the light again.

After recent two drug fatalities that happened almost a month ago, the club has been under heavy investigation since. Loyal clubbers around the world have been continuously showing their support, and gained attention of more than 140,000 people. Even London’s mayor Sadiq Khan himself stepped up in defense. However, turns out he has a little control of what’s going to happen with the place: “It is important to note that City Hall does not have the power to intervene in licensing cases like the current situation with Fabric, “ he states in his response to the petition.
