Elements Festival: Shoom Meets Shambhala
The legendary party promoters at BangOn!NYC are at it again with the latest installment of their summer Elements festival. This incarnation seems to be their most ambitious yet as the group has settled on the South Red Hook Grain Elevator for a location. A hotspot for adventurous urban explorers and Untapped Cities junkies, the grain terminal is a 15 story, 64,000 sq foot structure that is so decayed in parts it is literally crumbling into the Gowanus Canal. This urban playground will be converted into something BangOn! has promised will look like an intoxicating and photogenic melange of Berlin, Bushwick, and Burning Man.
As a patron of former BangOn! warehouse parties, this correspondent is fidgeting with excitement at the possibilities of a night where Shoom will meet Shambhala once more. To borrow the words of a choice Complex review: ”If you're looking for something that sounds straight out of a SNL Stefon sketch, BangOn! Promises just the night for you.”
In line with their organic theme, the festival will have four stages themed around the four elements with like genres grouped together. Water, a deep house and techno centric stage hosted by BABËL will feature the likes of Audiofly and Brooklyn’s own Lauren Ritter. Earth, hosted by Run The Trap (!!!!) will host Paper Diamond, Liquid Stranger and headliners Shpongle in a general melee of bassy, trappy goodness. The Air stage will focus on house music exclusively with Chromed, The Golden Pony, and Landis Lapace slated to perform.
Finally, the Fire stage will feature some of the hottest local talents curated jointly by Girls + Boys, gbh.tv, and Webster Hall. Joining Aussie house goddess Anna Lunoe, they’ve enlisted Amtrac, Nora En Pure, XXYXX, Autograf and a whole grip of others. In their early marketing, Bangon! promised to include the warriors of the real New York scene and their inclusion of Alex English and Hiyawatha proves they meant it as these two round out at least one and often more of the most legit lineups happening in the city each week.
Of course, BangOn! will have badass 3D projection mapping from Rhizome, aerial and circus performers, art cars, and even a bouncy castle. As the whole experience is meant to be interactional, you can expect rides and games alongside a wide array of vendors.
Perhaps most admirable, though, is BangOn!'s continued commitment to remaining eco friendly even as their presence in the city’s EDM scene grows. Elements will feature solar powered cell charging stations and art installations. The event will use exclusively biodegradable cups and anyone with a Hybrid or Electric car can look forward to a 20% discounted ticket.
A handful of third tier tickets are left for purchase HERE. Make sure to snag one before prices rise or the inevitable sell out. Also of interest is the BADASS after party that will hit The Wick with unlimited headliner b2b sets into the early morning hours. One can hardly stand the wait until Saturday! See you there.
