Hard Summer: 2015 Trailer and Lineup Released
Since starting back in Los Angeles in 2007, HARD has been taking the dance music scene by storm. Gary Richards, better known as the founder of HARD and also the DJ/Producer, Destructo, continuously uses his knowledge of the scene and recognition of exquisite talent to book some of the best lineups possible, year after year.
Over the past couple of months via social media, HARD events, Destructo, and friends have been all keeping an odd inside secret relating to a spoon. Yes, a spoon…what does a spoon have to do with the music festival and the artists?
This week, alas, all of our persistent questions were answered with the release of the Hard Summer 2015 trailer. HARD events like to keep their trailers super interesting and intriguing, rather than just having shots of previous years of the event over some dance floor banger. Artists set to play the fest jokingly take roles of themselves in some sort of ridiculous storyline that has us chuckling as it unfolds. Who knew Dillon Francis was so devoted to spoons?
With all jokes aside, the lineup that comes with the trailer is definitely no laughing matter. Unless, you’re someone like me, who laughs in amazement when you see phenomenal artist’s names pop up on the screen.
This two-day event held on August 1-2 will be hosting everything from R&b, Trap, Experimental, Garage, Rap, Techno, and so much more. The first line on day one of the lineup immediately draws attention with headliners The Weeknd, Dillon Francis, The Glitch Mob, and more, including live performances by Porter Robinson and Gorgon City. Also, definitely not to forget to mention, the much anticipated return of The Chemical Brothers. As eyes gaze down the lineup, don’t be shocked when they start getting wider and wider in excitement. Erol Alkan, Salva, Djemba Djemba, Dirtyphonics, and so much more are about to have the Fairplex going up, on a Saturday.
Yeah… that’s just day one. Sunday is stacked with headliners Jack U, Ratatat, Caribou, RL Grime, and Die Antwoord, to name a few. TEED will be doing a Dj set, along with Jamie XX, Hudson Mohawke, Hannah Wants, Branchez, and more. Oh, and with so many Boys Noize Records artists set to play on Sunday, it looks like a BNR stage is definitely possible. Acid techno, anyone?
HARD has been dedicated to moving away from the term “rave,” as founder Gary Richards states in the trailer. This is because this is not a rave, this is a multi-genre, full-blown, music festival. Decades ago, raves were known to be secret, underground parties, pumping with loud techno and filled with illegal drugs that would go on until the sun rises. Unfortunately, many people still relate this idea with events that contain dance music today. Well boys and girls, it’s 2015, times have changed, and HARD is here to show us that good music is good music. Many genres are allowed here, people of all races, sexual orientations, backgrounds, musical tastes- whatever, are welcome to enjoy this universal language together.
This music festival is an opportunity to see some of the best artists around for a great price, be engulfed in the legendary Los Angeles music scene, and create endless memories at one of the best venues in California. Who could say no to that? Watch the trailer below, and get your tickets HERE!
