Dance Community Shaken Up Over the Sudden Loss of Big Makk
The Orlando based DJ, producer and Mad Decent artist Samisoni Koroitamudu, aka Bigg Makk has tragically passed away. The beloved DJ and two others traveling in a Dodge Charger went off the road and fatally struck a tree early morning Monday, August 29, in Casselberry, Florida. Koroitamadu was only 25.
Credited with being an early innovator of the Moombahton EDM subgenre. Also a member of the Orlando Moombahton Mafia. Big Makk brought attention to the fusion genre of house music and reggaeton. With its thick and spread out bass, dramatic builds and two-step pulse.
Big Makk found his testing grounds at the Blackbooth club in Orlando in 2012. He became the resident DJ of the club’s weekly event Shake n’ Bass. Big Makk’s career really took off with his 2015 release of Jenga ft. City Tucker. Shortly after, Big Makk did a track with Mr. Carmack and worked on Bassnectar’s last album.
Big Makk was featured on the EDC Orlando 2016 lineup. Scheduled next to worldwide EDM artists such as 12th Planet, Alison Wonderland, Bassnectar and much more. Fans have been reaching out across Twitter for the remaining members of the Orlando Moombahton Mafia to replace his set.
