Exclusive Interview: Super8 & Tab

Pushing the limits with creativity while still staying true to their trance roots, Finnish duo Super8 & Tab have sky-rocketed their success every since their collaboration in 2005. EPIC PRODUCTIONS:  How long have you been in the music industry/making music?

We both have been working on music since the 90’s, so quite some time now.

EPIC PRODUCTIONS: Who is your biggest music inspiration? and if you could collaborate with any music artist, who would it be?

Back in the day, Rollo or Prodigy was on my playlist all the time and that got me started making music.

EPIC PRODUCTIONS: What is the largest show you have ever played?

We once played at Love Parade in Berlin, Germany and the estimated number of people who attended was over 1.2 million people! We have also played a few times at EDC Las Vegas, which is also a massive event.

EPIC PRODUCTIONS: How long does it usually take you to prepare a set?

Listening to promos and searching for new tracks can take some time but when preparing for a set, we usually just add all the newest tracks we’re listening to onto SD cards and we are ready to go.

EPIC PRODUCTIONS: If you could venture into any different style of EDM, what style would you want to try out?

We have always tried to been open-minded and take influence from different genres and add these elements to our own tracks.

EPIC PRODUCTIONS: How did you two start working together?

We were both releasing tracks on Anjunabeats and were working on same studio complex here in Helsinki. So it was natural that we try to work together - and here we are 10 years later!

EPIC PRODUCTIONS: How does the music scene differ in the US versus Finland?

Not that much really. The EDM wave hit Finland too and the scene has been growing fast. Obviously, the US scene is a lot bigger than ours but we have managed to build huge festivals in Northern Europe like Weekend, Summer Sound and Flow Festival.

EPIC PRODUCTIONS: As festival season is fast approaching, what are you most excited about?

We have quite some interesting festivals coming up this summer, not only in North America and Finland but also in Europe and Asia. We are excited to play at ASOT700 in Mumbai, India for example.

EPIC PRODUCTIONS: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Tab: Iceland has always been interesting place to visit.

Elo: South Pole of course!

EPIC PRODUCTIONS: What is one festival that is on your bucket list to perform at?

Tab: Burning Man

Elo: TimeWart in Germany

EPIC PRODUCTIONS: What is some advice that you have for artists that are up and coming or people who are beginning to explore their talents with music?

Just keep doing your own thing, if you haven’t found your sound yet, keep searching. You will know when you’ve found it!
