FYF Fest: 2015 Lineup Released
Besides being some of the greatest music festivals around today, what do Coachella, Firefly, Hangout Music Fest, First City, and Musink all have in common? Some of you may know, and also many may not know, that the event company, Goldenvoice, produces or co-produces all of these festivals... plus more. This company has been around since 1981, and has been throwing some of the best festivals and shows that the music scene has to offer. Some real OGs in the event game, if I do say so myself.
Speaking of the best festivals, who’s heard of another one of Goldenvoice’s events, FYF Fest? If you like a wide array of exceptional musical talent, I’d assume it would be difficult to let this one pass by you. Since 2004, F*ck Yeah Fest (FYF), which takes place in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, has been bringing some of the best talent, at the most perfect time in the artist’s careers. From seeing the other lineups Goldenvoice has geniously booked, it comes as no surprise when you find yourself deciding to buy tickets as soon as the lineup is released. The artist lineup for this year’s FYF has many already making this festival at the top of their musical priorities for 2015, and for good reason.
Over the course of two days, August 22 and August 23, the LA Sports Arena and Exposition Park will be musically blessed with over 55 acts coming to showcase their talents for attendees. R&B artist, Frank Ocean, is set to headline the first day of the fest, and is a rare sight to catch. Sunday’s headliner is even more rare, and definitely an iconic individual… if Morrissey came to mind with this statement, then you are absolutely correct.
Not only are the headliners sure to blow us away, but the entire lineup from top to bottom is a true masterpiece. Saturday will also hold sets by Chet Faker, Purity Ring, Kaytranada, Shlohmo, Cold Cave, DJ Dodger Stadium, and so much more. These few names are already making me weak at the knees, as I can’t help but visualize them performing in such a fantastic setting.
Letting the first day’s lineup sink in might take a minute, as it certainly took me a bit to look up, take a deep breath, and digest the superb group of names printed across the flyer. As I got myself back together, I began focusing on the artists for day two.
D’Angelo and the Vanguard, Toro Y Moi, Nico Jaar, Goldroom, Death Grips, and Dixon are just a few artists whose music will grace the ears of thousands on Sunday. From the phenomenal artists coming from completely different genres- even making genres of their own- it is sure to be a chance to tend to all of your varying musical tastes. The artists booked for FYF every year are each extremely unique in their producing, sound design, and stage presence. Being able to throw such a fest right in the middle of Los Angeles guarantees that attendees will be able to see some of their favorite artists, with the beautiful LA skyline in view. The countdown begins…
