More Handcuffs than Kandi at Nocturnal Wonderland
Nocturnal Wonderland, three days of great music, good vibes and this year, a lot of arrests.
Insomniac’s three day festival at the San Manuel Amphitheater in San Bernardino, CA saw some of the top artists in electronic music. Artists like Alison Wonderland, TroyBoi, Bassnectar and , all take home to the festival grounds for three-days of festival magic. Unfortunately, Nocturnal Wonderland also saw a huge spike in arrests and police activity than its previous summers.
According to reports, 428 festival goers were arrested on drug and alcohol related instances during the three-day event September 2-4 . Included in these arrests were many from police making huge efforts to reduce the amount of drugs entering the venue, and being arrested at security. Nocturnal Wonderland has yet to release a statement.
Music festivals get a bad wrap for the drug and alcohol consumption that occur within their walls. Three people unfortunately lost their lives a few months ago at HARD Summer, a two-day music festival at the Auto Club Speedway in Southern California due to drug related instances. Sadly that wasn’t the first time accidents like that have occurred and it has become an increasing issue.
Festivals are meant to be an amazing experience that bring people together through music and great vibes. Unlike many more boutique festivals and festivals abroad many USA festivals shame drug intake instead of working on prevention and protection, including drug testing stations, etc. If you attend please stay safe and know your limits.
